Season 49 | Season to be BRAVE
It's time to...
Take chances, make mistakes, be BRAVE!
What does it mean to be BRAVE?
To be brave means to step into the unknown with heart, even when fear whispers doubt. It’s the courage to be vulnerable, to stand in the spotlight and share your truth, to create something meaningful in collaboration with others. Bravery isn’t about being fearless—it’s about showing up, again and again, with passion, purpose, and the belief that stories have the power to change the world.
SBT’s Season to be BRAVE celebrates our community. At StoryBook Theatre, bravery lives in every audition, every opening night. Every story presented on our stage dares to challenge, uplift, and inspire.
Whether it’s your first time coming to one of our shows, or you’re a long-time patron, you play an integral part in creating the magic you see onstage. Your reactions and applause breathe life into the performances, encouraging and uplifting every artist involved. We appreciate and value YOU as part of our theatre family.
Across the productions presented in this 49th Season, bravery manifests in different ways—standing up for oneself, believing in something others doubt, embracing identity, and defying limitations. StoryBook’s upcoming 49th Season highlights courage and bravery in all forms, whether through ambition, belief, self-expression, or love. SBT’s 2025-26 season includes the following productions as examples of the company’s commitment to producing bold and daring performances for the entire community:

With the support of a determined attorney, and the belief of a young girl named Susan, Kris Kringle takes on the cynics in this musical adaptation of this holiday classic. Based on the movie of the same name, by the writer of the musical theatre classic “The Music Man,” the heart of this show invites all to embrace their own courage to believe—whether in Santa Claus, the goodness of people, or the power of faith itself. Kris Kringle and young Susan must challenge cynicism and skepticism, proving that sometimes the bravest act is holding onto hope in a world that discourages it.

One-act play, recommended for ages 10 & up
BACK FOR A LIMITED RUN!
One actor. 35 distinct characters. The timeless Dickens holiday classic is completely reimagined in ONE CHRISTMAS CAROL! The holiday favorite is BACK, featuring multi-award-winning Alberta actor Natascha Girgis in this one-person tour-de-force. Dickens’ famous story about selfishness and selflessness is stripped down to its bare essence, forgoing the usual opulence of the holidays and focusing on what is most important during the season. Dickens’ colourful characters are fully embodied as Girgis flawlessly transforms into Ebenezer Scrooge, Bob Cratchit, Tiny Tim, Fezziwig, Belle, the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future right before your eyes. Experience awe and wonder with this powerful live theatre performance, which is nothing short of magical. ONE CHRISTMAS CAROL is an intimate and spirited evening of theatre that everyone in the family will love! God bless us, everyone!

Everyone will be “a believer!” The tale of an unlikely hero who finds himself joined by a wisecracking Donkey to rescue a feisty princess, Fiona, to salvage his home is hilarious brought to the stage! Confronted by the greed of a power-hungry monarch, a troupe of fairy tale misfits backs Shrek’s quest, and is driven by a secret curse that may shape the kingdom’s future. Shrek’s journey is one of self-acceptance and breaking past the barriers of fear and isolation. He and Fiona must find the courage to embrace their true selves, defy societal expectations, and fight for love. The show reinforces that bravery is often about being unapologetically yourself.
